What is the difference between a hybrid and an off-grid solar inverter?

A hybrid inverter connects to the grid and batteries at once, charging from solar or Eskom and switching to battery during load shedding. An off-grid inverter runs entirely on solar and battery with no grid connection, suited to remote sites with no Eskom supply.
